Oh, bravo!! And I really, REALLY like your natural color and the style. I’ve been hiding my silver hairs for a long time now and just recently decided it might be time to let Nature take its course. My hairdresser said they could even use silver highlights to help while it grows out. You’ve given me a real boost! I find I feel about 10 years younger every time I go from long to short/er. 🙂 Well done…I love it!
You look fantastic! I think it took you from dated to confident and chic. It made you look elegant. I just cut my hair too and it was longer than yours. I had highlights and feel liberated from the high maintenance and cost. The only negative— My hair grows so fast that I’m finding it hard to keep it short.
Easygardener – No it is me – I just got changed into clean clothes to go and visit the hairdresser.
Dobby – the new front view, is my new avatar
Sandy and PGL Thanks it will be interesting to see if people I know don’t recognize me in the street 😉
Nancy and Anna – the reason I have had it all cut off is because for years it has been coloured – and I just had enough, very high maintenance and the red faded very quickly – so I wanted to go “natural”
Patientgardener I have a sneaky suspicion that to keep it looking stylish might involve more that I am used to – like wax and spray and LOOKING in a mirror
LOL, it is a bit extreme to go from long to that short but I did it too many years ago.
I like your new hair style. When I got short hair many people said it made me look much younger, always a plus, don’t you think? Have lots of fun with your new hair although it will take some getting used to it yourself too. I remember being very startled when I looked into the mirror the first few days after my new haircut. I use Fudge fat hed (it’s from Australia) to style my hair and it’s fantastic. And it takes about 10 seconds to style my hair in the morning. 😉
Thanks Yolanda Elizabet – we don’t have too many mirrors here – but it will be odd when I catch sight of myself in shop windows.
Thanks for the tip about “Fudge” – I am under instruction from my hairdresser to go and buy something like that to-day
10 seconds sounds good. 🙂
Thanks Chey – I am not so sure about the carefree though (on a day to day basis) because instead of bunging it up in a scrunchy – I now have to wax/gel and look in a mirror while doing it – I will forget and go out with one flat side and one sticky out side 🙂
Thanks for visiting and taking time to leave a comment.
Thrreadspider – it definitely is the transition season – I can feel it in my bones. (I love this time of year)
Elizabethm – It is the top of my head that feels cold – I think my neck is used to it as I usually wear my hair up.
Victoria – go on …. you know you want tooo 🙂
Actually – I did not go far from the computer to-day (You can tell that – by the fact I have replied to comments as they have come in!)
I was suddenly “shy” of meeting people I know in the street – but I expect it will wear off soon enough.
Hi Katarina – I decided to cut it earlier in the year – but wanted to keep it long for my sons weddings (March and May) – so I last had it coloured in May – and have been growing it since then to give me enough un-coloured hair to have it cut short – and have it completely natural!
That was the hard bit – going around with a stripe of grey for the last 3 months 🙂
Thanks for dropping by.
Hi Lucy – Yes I am not brave enough to scare the world with my whole face! The little green Lucy with the red hat is automatically generated by wordpress and you have the same little guy each time you leave a comment as Lucy Corrander.
Thanks for dropping by.
Lucy – Just here I think. You will get different things on different wordpress blogs – for example if you visit The Patient Gardeners blog – you will get a little pattern – but you will get the same little pattern every time you visit her blog. That will be your pattern on that blog…. if you see what I mean.
This is what I have been considering for weeks: the end to long hair, and the beginning to short. You make it look so easy. But I am still afraid. I am almost half gray (no dye) and yet I like my long hair…we shall see. I hope that we will visit each other again and see what other “coincidences” are occurring as the seasons change, then change again…
For those that are interested, I saw the new Karen at the weekend and can confirm that the new haircut looks absolutely stunning. And no, for those suspicious souls, I am not just saying it so that I get more free plants and advise.
Hi Karen, that was a shocking photo! And I mean that in a good way. The first picture does not prepare one for the next. I love those little wispy bits at the nape. I think the spiky punk look is a good one for you. Is it fun to style? I actually shaved my head a few years ago when my sister in law was in chemo for breast cancer. I told her if her hair fell out that I would, and it did and I did. I can only say that it was December and I had to sleep with a knit hat on, cold head!
