I’m very tempted by canna- the dark ones) for my dark border. Do they need lots of sun? Your photo is a stunning ad for them. Ive only seen them in “exotic” borders ie C Lloyd, would they blend? The leaves are lovely, foliage definitely beats flowers ….Linda
Hi Linda – They do love the sun and warmth – I think they are quite difficult to place in a “Tradational” border – but they look fabulous with hot plants, I have rudbeckias and they go with those (Well let me re-phrase that – I should have rudbeckias – they seem a bit stunted just now)
Karen, In my tropical Florida garden I still do not have any Canna. I’ve had my eye on them for a little while and your beautiful photo reminds me to add them to my wish list for next spring. I am not a huge fan of the flowers but I’ve even contemplated growing them just for the showy striped foliage and cutting off the flowers… I know, gasp!

Actually Meems – I can understand the thought of cutting off the flower – sometimes I think the flower doesn’t really “go” with the leaves. Thanks for visiting.
Thank you Sandy – they are stunning leaves – and I am so glad that I have a canna in the garden – I am tempted to get some more – but I need to think about where to place them – so it will be in the future before I add to the existing one
